MARINE INSTRUCTOR – ITW DAVID SPEER ACADEMY (ITWDSA) (SGTMAJ JOSE R. NAZARIO)

Sergeant Major, Nazario was born in San German, Puerto Rico. Immigrated to the United States to the city of Chicago in the year of 1969.

Attended Lafayette elementary school, Chopin Middle School, Tuley High School, and Roberto Clemente High School. Dropped out of  High School in the junior year.

Nov 27 1977 joined the United States Marine Corps and reported to the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego California. Was assigned to platoon 3138, company I, third Battalion, Recruit training Regiment.

Feb 1978 Graduated from recruit training as a Private First Class meritoriously in the MOS of 0311. (Infantry Rifleman)

Feb 1978 reported to the Infantry training school at Camp Pendleton California for training in infantry and combat arms.

Mar 1978 to Feb 1979 reported to the 2nd Bn 9th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, Okinawa Japan. Held the billets of rifleman, and

fireteam leader. Meritoriously promoted to Lance Corporal. Received his High School Diploma from Escondido High School, Escondido California.

Feb 1979 to Jun 1981 2nd Bn 9th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, Camp Pendleton California. Held the billets of fireteam leader, squad leader, and platoon guide. Meritoriously promoted to Corporal and regular promotion to Sergeant.

Jun 1981 to Aug 1981 Drill Instructor School at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego California.

Aug 1981 to Aug 1983 Company D, 1 st Bn Recruit Training Regiment, MCRD. Held the billets of Drill Instructor and Senior Drill Instructor. Promoted to SSgt meritoriously.

Aug 1983 to Dec 1984 Transferred to Support Bn as a close combat instructor , rappel master .

Dec 1984 to Dec 1988 Reported to the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps at Purdue University as the Assistant Marine Officer Instructor. Temporary Additional duties at Officer Candidate School: Sergeant Instructor in 1985, and Plt Sgt in 1988. Promoted to GySgt in the country of Oman in desert operations.

Dec 1988 to Dec 1992 Reported to 2 nd Bn 1 st Marines, 1 st Marine Division, Camp Pendleton, California as Plt Sgt for 2 nd Plt, Company B, 2/1. Later re-designated as 1 st Bn 4 th Marines, ¼. Held the billets of Infantry Plt Sgt and Company GySgt. Participate in Desert Shield and Desert Storm.

Dec 1992 to May 1995 Reported to the University of Mississippi for duty as the Assistant Marine Officer Instructor. Selected to 1stSgt and frocked to 1stSgt.

Dec 1995 to Apr 1996 Reported to the 3 rd Bn 7 th Marine Regiment , 1 st Marine Division, Camp Pendleton, California. Held the billet of 1stSgt for India Company 3 rd Bn 7 th Marines, 1 st Marine Division.

Apr 1996 to Oct 1998 Reported to Range company at Weapons and Field Training Bn at MCRD, Camp Pendleton California. Held the billet of 1stSgt Range Company. Selected to SgtMaj and frocked to SgtMaj.

Oct 1998 to Apr 2001 Reported to Marine Wing Communication Squadron Eighteen, Group Eighteen, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, III MEF, Okinawa Japan as the SgtMaj.

Apr 2001 to Oct 2004 Reported to the Headquarters and Support Bn, Marine Corps Base, Camp Foster, III MEF as the Camp SgtMaj for camps Foster and Lester.

Oct 2004 to Oct 2007 Reported to Headquarters and Service Bn, Marine Corps Base, Camp Pendleton, as the SgtMaj for 13 Area.

July 2007 retired from the United States Marine Corps after 30 years of service to Country and the Corps.

Jul 2007 to July 2008 established the first MCJROTC program at Golder College Prep, Noble Network of Charter Schools.

July 2007 to June 2015 Marine Instructor at Golder College Prep, Noble Network of Charter Schools.

June 05, 2015 Deactivation of MCJROTC program at Golder College Prep, Noble Network of Charter Schools,.

June 21, 2015 Activation of MCJROTC at ITW David Speer Academy, Noble Network of Charter Schools.

Sergeant Major Nazario is married to the former Neida I. Rodriguez for 36 years, they have 4 children, Amaris, Aaron, Ariana, and Abram. (The A-Team)
