FAQ’s

What are the requirements for MCJROTC?

  • GPA of a 2.3
  • Less than 4 detentions per year
  • Beginning in the AY 2016 to 2017 the Detention standards will be a maximum of three (3) detentions per year. The content of the detentions will be looked at and taken into consideration. Students with detentions due to disrespect, vandalism, illegal drug use, and truancy from school or any other assigned class on the campus will be a disqualification for the MCJROTC program for that Academic Year.

Is the uniform worn everyday?

The uniform is mandatory on Monday, Wednesday, Fridays are optional. The Honor Guard is responsible for the raising and lowering of the Colors daily-you must be in uniform the whole week. 

What are the grooming standards?

Male Standards:

  1. Freshmen Cadets (LE-1): Must have a high zero Fade, with no more than 3″ on top and the hair will not interfere with the proper wearing of the headgear and also it must present a professional and neat appearance.
  2. Sophomore Cadets (LE-2):Must have a high zero Fade, with no more than 3″ on top and the hair will not interfere with the proper wearing of the headgear and also it must present a professional and neat appearance.
  3. Upper Classmen-Junior Cadets (LE-3): May have a medium zero fade, with no more than 3″ on top and the hair will not interfere with the proper wearing of the headgear and also it must present a professional and neat appearance.
  4. Upper Classmen-Senior Cadets (LE-4): May Have a low zero fade with no more than 3″ on top and the hair will not interfere with the proper wearing of the headgear and also it must present a professional and neat appearance.
  5. Cadets in the “Drill Team”: Mandatory “high zero fade” no other options are allowed. No more than 3″ on top and the hair will not interfere with the proper wearing of the headgear and also it must present a professional and neat appearance.

  1. Freshmen to Seniors (LE-1 to LE-4): ladies must come with a proper military bun as shown in the cadet handbook. If the ladies want to cut their hair, it must be short enough so that the hair does not fall below the lower edge of the collar. Hair styles must be conservative and must be evenly cut so that the wearing of the headgear is not disrupted and also when the headgear is not worn, the hair must present a neat and professional appearance at all times. Is MCJROTC challenging?

MCJROTC is not easy but it’s not impossible to accomplish. As a cadet you will have stressful days and have days where you want to quit. However, you can get through it with perseverance. 

Do you have to be Physically fit?

No you do not have to be Physically fit when you apply for the program. When you attend the Cadet Candidate school, you will be introduced to Physical Fitness. If you are in excellent physical fitness shape and want a challenge you can look into joining the MCJROTC Physical Fitness team. Even if you are not in excellent Physical Fitness shape, you can join the Physical Fitness Team and you will be assigned to the proper level of fitness team.
