{The ITW MCJROTC Leadership Program requires a one year – Two Semesters commitment}

Pride Battalion Motto “Leading From The Home”

MCJROTC WEEKLY SCHEDULE:

Welcome to the “About our Program Page”. The MCJROTC program is an elective course on Leadership Education and Leadership Development. This is a one year commitment class.  One year is two semesters – students that transfer in during the second semester of the school year must serve three semesters because no transfers out of MCJROTC will be allowed in the middle of the school year. The Students receive a letter grade as this is a class that they must attend.

Within the Leadership program (MCJROTC), we have many STEM and Athletics programs that are optional for the students to participate in and requires that the students are exercising the Leadership traits, Principles, and Core Values at home first.

Cadets become eligible for promotions and leadership positions in the MCJROTC; The Marine Instructor will send a promotion approval letter home to the parents for final approval on the recommendation of the parent. The Parent will sign the form as recommending Approval or Not Recommending Approval according to how the Candidate / Cadet is exercising the Leadership Ethos at Home.

I want to be a partner with the parents of the Candidates / Cadets in the development of character in the home first and then outside of the home.

ITW Pride Battalion

The main purpose of the MCJROTC Leadership Education is to instill values of citizenship, service to the United States, personal responsibility and a sense of accomplishment.

Our program is designed for the purpose of developing young men and women of sound character, to understand their duties and responsibilities as a citizen of the United States. The cadets are taught that citizenship starts at home with the parents and siblings; the use of the leadership traits and principles are to be put into practice at home first and then out into the community, city, state, and the nation.

The Cadets have many mandatory events throughout the year that they are assigned to. These mandatory events teach the young student of leadership; duty, honor, responsibility, accountability, cohesion, teamwork, time management, organizational skills, commitment, and an outstanding WORK ETHIC.  The above mandatory events help to develop the character and accelerate the process of maturing into an adult young gentleman/young lady.

History and Legacy of ITW David Speer Academy:

On August 20, 2007, the Golder College Prep MCJROTC was founded by Sergeant Major, José R. Nazario. The Panther battalion quickly became one of the best programs in the Noble Network of Charter Schools and in the region. The Panther Battalion quickly gained a reputation for disciplined, intelligent, and honorable cadets. The Cadets were known throughout the Chicago Area, Indiana, and South Dakota. The Golder Panther battalion was deactivated on June 05, 2015 and was re-designated as the ITW David Speer Academy Pride battalion on June 21, 2015. The date of June 21 was chosen by the Marine Instructor, SgtMaj Nazario because on June 21, 1788, the Constitution of the United States became effective when New Hampshire was the ninth state to ratify the Constitution of the United States.

The ITW Pride Battalion will continue the legacy established by their founding fathers of cadets and take the MCJROTC program to greater heights and success.

ITW David Speer Academy Pride Battalion Objectives:

1. Develop informed and responsible citizens.
2. Develop Leadership skills.
3. Strengthen character.
4. Promote an understanding of the basic elements and requirements for national security.
5. Help form habits of self-discipline.
6. Develop respect for, and an understanding, of the need for a constituted authority in a representative republic society.
7. To be committed to the ITW STEM objective of producing problem solvers, innovators, and leaders in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.
