ITW Pride Battalion

The main purpose of MJROTC is to instill values of citizenship, service to the United States, personal responsibility and a sense of accomplishment.

Our program is designed for the purpose of developing young men and women of sound character, to understand their duties and responsibilities as a citizen of the United States. The cadets are taught that citizenship starts at home with the parents and siblings; the use of the leadership traits and principles are to be put into practice at home first and then out into the community, city, state, and the nation.

History and Legacy of ITW David Speer Academy:

On August 20, 2007, the Golder College Prep MCJROTC was founded by Sergeant Major, José R. Nazario. The Panther battalion quickly became one of the best programs in the Noble Network of Charter Schools and in the region. The Panther Battalion quickly gained a reputation for disciplined, intelligent, and honorable cadets. The Cadets were known throughout the Chicago Area, Indiana, and South Dakota. The Golder Panther battalion was deactivated on June 05, 2015 and was re-designated as the ITW David Speer Academy Pride battalion on June 21, 2015. The date of June 21 was chosen by the Marine Instructor, SgtMaj Nazario because on June 21, 1788, the Constitution of the United States became effective when New Hampshire was the ninth state to ratify the Constitution of the United States.

The ITW Pride Battalion will continue the legacy established by their founding fathers of cadets and take the MCJROTC program to greater heights and success.

ITW David Speer Academy Pride Battalion Objectives:

1. Develop informed and responsible citizens.
2. Develop Leadership skills.
3. Strengthen character.
4. Promote an understanding of the basic elements and requirements for national security.
5. Help form habits of self-discipline.
6. Develop respect for, and an understanding, of the need for a constituted authority in a representative republic society.
7. To be committed to the ITW STEM objective of producing problem solvers, innovators, and leaders in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.
